Frugal Fridays!

Okay, I am new to this whole "Frugal Fridays" thing, so hopefully ya'll will give me a little leeway, because I am not sure how it works! LOL! But I am trying! This is a blog carnival that I started reading on Vicki's website. She's a pretty frugal lady! All of the tips I have read so far are great! So my Frugal Friday tip is this:

If you have a kid who lives away from you (going to college or whatever) that you send money to....do NOT send Western Union or Money Gram! That is SOOO expensive! I have recently learned about this prepaid debit card you can get from Wal-Mart that can be used as a debit or credit card because it has a Visa logo on it! It is called the Walmart Moneycard Student Edition.

When you buy it, it comes with one temporary card. You then have to go home and activate it online. When you activate it, they will ask you for your information and then what name you want on the second card. You can get your name on one and your child's on another. Then you send the one with your child's name on it to them once you get it in the mail. When you add money to YOUR card, they can access it on THEIR card! Pretty cool, huh? :-)
